Original brakes, need freshening. What to do?
Alright, my front brakes (minus pads and rotors) are all original, and they're gettin' pretty mushy. I originally wanted to go big, but it's just not in the budget, and something needs to be done. I'm gonna be doing balljoints soon anyhow, so I figure it's a good time to replace and rebuild....
....so what do I do? New pads, rotors, bearings, and I'm gonna rebuild the calipers. What about brake lines? Thinking about earl's. What about the upper lines that go to the master cylinder? What about the master cylinder itself? Is there a need to replace the master?

Just a thorough going through and no upgrade? Upgrade man, upgrade.
If not then at least swap to braided lines and HPS pads on new rotors. Don't waste time rebuilding stock calipers, just get replacements for around $15 each with your cores in exchange. Make sure the upper lines are clean (IE feed and bleed until clear fluid flows out) and don't worry about the master unless you think there's an issue with it, they rarely fail. Again, clean out the reservoir and feed and bleed.
Happy T/G.

Happy TG to you as well Ed!
.....yeah, I've got so much going on outside of the Iroc these days. I've thought about selling it a few times, but I keep coming back to my senses!!!! .....that being said though, I just don't have too much money, and the car needs enough as it is. I've even got a T5 waiting to go in, just no time. I love the car, but I've just got other things going on.
Oh well, thanks for the response! Happy TG!
