Changing Rear pads and one other question.
Ok well i finally got my rear pistons to compress, question is, should i be able to freely move it after compressing it in with a C clamp? i have PBR brakes. I can literally take the whole piston out. I think something is wrong, it doesnt seem right that im able to lift it out, i heard a loud pop while compressing them also.

Go to Napa and get the rebuild kits for the calipers. They're dirt cheap-I think I paid $12 per side. They're really easy to rebuild and come with thorough instructions. If the piston fell right out then the o-rings that seal them to the caliper bore are probably shot and they would leak anyway-I had to blow the pistons out with the air nozzle in mine.

Re: Changing Rear pads and one other question.
So your telling me that since i compressed the rear calipers, with a c- clamp, i just tightened it till they "popped" and pushed back in, I can push and pull both pistons up and down with my fingers since compressing them, i actually removed one all the way out, than had to reseat the plastic boot to get it to go back in(i know stupid me) that something is broken? i mean 12$ is not that much but i have spent alot of money this summer and now im to the point of if its not broken, than im not going to fix it. Has anyone else had an experience similar to this one?

Re: Changing Rear pads and one other question.
Did you pull the actual piston out or the thing that pushes against the pad? The thing that touches the pad is actually called the clamp rod, and the piston pushes against it. If that's all it is you might be okay. You could go ahead and put it all together (at your own risk of course) and see if the brakes are working okay. Watch very closely for any leaks at the calipers. After you have bled the brakes, check closely for any leaks, take a test drive at low speeds and check for leaks again. If the calipers don't leak, and don't stick (everything moving freely as it should) then they are working properly. Brakes are a bad place to cut corners, but if you must be as cautious as possible. Good luck!
