Hey fellas,
I need some help, I just finally got ym old master and prop off and im trying to put the new (was told) disk prop valve on with a newer master.

The old prop valve (this is a 1985 sport coupe that came with drum brakes) looks like the 82-84 prop valve

The one for the disc set up looks like this

Everything goes on the same except the front brake line. On the older prop valve it goes to the front port, which on the newer prop valve is covered up and if taken off has a spring in side and what not.
Do I have to bent this line to fit under the new prop valve in that spot and call it a day?

Just want to make sure thats all I need to do before I go messing things up

This from Dan Burke's page:

"I used the 14089496 1st design [proportioning valve] because my car was built in 1984.

"Mine [the pro valve] required some relocating of the rear disk brake line: My old combo valve had the line coming in the front, whereas the 1LE piece had it coming in from the bottom of the valve. My existing line bent with no problems. Be prepared to replace that line if it's at all corroded. It might crack."

For the sake of safety, you might verify what the threads are. My understanding is that the older version was SAE, the newer metric. That said, Dan Burke doesn't make mention of it.

ok this is basically what I thought and I appreciate the verification. As for the threads do you know what year they went metric? Im going to have to get new fitting and re flare the lines if they dont match up correct? That sucks I might have to have someone do that because I dont want it done amateur style.

 

Most sources say the SAE was 82-83. The valve in the pic, however, "looks" just like those in those years. That said, Dan Burke apparently experienced no difficulty. If the fitment is off, you'd be forced to mess with the lines.

Let me clarify those pictures were from google to represent what im working with. My car is a 85, since having it its had a similar prop valve to the first picture and i am now replacing it to the one that looks like the second picture.
If 82-83/84 was sae then my 85 should be fine with the fittings. Ill check it out today and let you guys know thanks for the info man I love TGO.
