where is the brake bleeder on rear?
where is the brake bleeder on rear?
sorry for stupid question, but where is the brake bleeder on my 91 firebird with drum rear brakes? I have bled brakes before, but usually they are obvious. Is the bleeder the valve at the top of the rear axle, on the brake back? It has a rubber white cap on it? It is hard to get to and a bit rusty, i want to make sure i am turning the right thing! any advise is appreciated, i changed a rear line and now i have spongy brakes.

it sounds like you are looking at the right thing. Its on the backing plate towards the top and it sits recessed in the backing plate. A long 1/4" drive socket of the appropriate size work really well. Sorry i dont remember exactly what size it is of the top of my head.

Bleeder is directly above the inlet line to the wheel cylinder. A 5/16 or 8mm socket should fit. Try using a 6 point socket since the 12 point socket may round off the corners especially if the bleeder screw is rusted.
