86 Camaro Berlinetta Prop Valve Question

Have a 86 Camaro Berlinetta 2.8L, with Disc/Drum version, that needs a proportioning valve. Through all the searching I've done. I'm getting the feeling I'm out of luck for availability. I have found a 172-2003/14089495 that's possibly available, but can't seem to determine if this is for a Disc/Drum version. I find that the 172-2005 is for Disc/Disc. So I'm assuming that maybe this 172-2003 might be for the earlier version (disc/drum) for 1986. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Check out: http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/

They list them as "pressure metering valve" and they list them as with and without rear disc.

Hey, John, welcome to TGO. If you don't care if the valve is new, the bone yards would be full of disc/drum cars that you could chose from. The 82-83 and perhaps 84 have SAE fittings and their appearance is nothing like the mid years. A quick look at my Parts & Illustration Cat. shows the following:

VALVE, comb (J50) (1986-87, 88, and 89 first design) p/n 14089495.

84-85 show p/n 25517738.

Re: 86 Camaro Berlinetta Prop Valve Question

Wow, thank you both for the help. I was afraid that restoring this babe magnet was going to end up as a museum piece instead, but Gmpartsdirect does show one that matches as bcnvz28 pointed out, so have sent them a request for availability. Since I'm restoring it and getting too old to do it again, I'm going to prefer a new one over used (if still available), after all, at 55 years old, it's the only babe magnet I have left going for me and hopefully still have it running when I'm 70...LOL

Thanks again bcnvz28 and JamesC,

John

I may even decide to cheat the undertaker and be buried in it, but would probably get charged for 2 plots though.
