spindle nut size

Car: 1984 Trans am
Engine: V8
Transmission: Auto
spindle nut size

i want to chage my front calipers and rotors but before i start i wanted to know what size spindle nut is on the car. its an 84 trans am. plus i also wanted to know if i can use regular sockets to take it off or do i have to buy a spinlde nut socket? and what size sockets do i need?

The nut should only be about hand tight, so even a pair of channel locks should do the trick.

24mm for the spindle nut, 3/8" hex for the caliper bolts. For the work you described this is all you need. I'd change out the brake hoses while you're at it.
