LS1 VS 1LE

Whats the major difference between front LS1 and 1LE brakes? Is it worth spending the extra money on the 1LE or just getting the complete LS1 setups off ebay for 100 bucks (plus 90$ shipping!!! WTF!?!!?) Trying to figure out whats a better path to do. Any suggestions?

Front and/or rear?

Most members will probably recommend the LS1's because they're perhaps cheaper and parts may be more readily accessible (though I've never experienced any difficulty in finding them). The LS1's clearly have a better parking brake set-up. Personally, if I weren't swapping all over again, I'd probably go LS1.

Re: LS1 VS 1LE

BTW, if you have a 9-bolt, the LS1's won't fit the housing ends. If you have PBR's on the rear currently, 1LE fronts would match nicely.

Re: LS1 VS 1LE

Ohh, so only the Front LS1's would work if im running a 9 Bolt BW in the rear? And i do have disk on all four corners, so would it be better to just run 1LE on all four or LS1 fronts and 1LE rears? But isnt most of your stopping force in the front anyway, so would i really need to upgrade the rear or could i just leave the stock rears?

Yes.

I like the matching set, 1LE's all around for me. I'd leave the rears.

if you buy the calipers and such off ebay, you still have to use custom hubs and modify you spindles to use the ls1 brakes, you will also need a bracket to mount the caliper too similar to the 1le setup. they will not work straight off a 4th gen.

the rear ls1 brakes are great.

I have the 1le's on my 92 and they work very well, and the price was right at the time.

Okay maybe thats what I'll do then. I'll run the LS1 in the front and leave the rears stock.
