Adjustable Proportioning valve working backwards?

Has anyone experienced an adjustable prop valve that seems to work in reverse of what the directions say?

As far as I knew, just about every prop valve on the planet increase rear brake pressure by turning clockwise and decreased it by turning counter clockwise.

My jegs valve says the same thing in the instructions. The problem is that I cant seem to get rear braking. So today I jacked the rear up and with the valve cranked all the way I could not get the car to stall while running (its a stick).
So out of curiosity I ran the valve all the way out and then hit the brakes. I got rear braking. Not very strong, I had to mash on the pedal to make the car stall, but definitely way more than nothing.

This has me scratching my head trying to figure out what is going on here.

Anyone have any ideas?

The Wilwood prop valve is as you mentioned. Clockwise, all the way in for max pressure.

Are the in and out ports on the correct line?

Yes, I even compared picts to other valves like it online to make sure it wasn't machined wrong. Its the generic block of aluminum several manufacturers sell under their name. They all have the same instructions, clockwise to increase rear brake pressure.

If I do that I get no rear brakes. I did disassemble it when I first got it. I was doing some "research" and now I wonder if I somehow re-assembled it incorrectly. Then again, this would be a funny way of it not working.

I'm stumped.

I think I figured it out. When I disassembled it a rubber seal that is angled one way (to seal in one direction only) came off. I put it on backwards. So what ended up happening is that when I pressed the pedal instead of bypassing to allow flow the seal stopped flow. The harder I pressed the more it sealed. The spring force was only helping it to seal too.

I guess the good thing to come out of this is that I now know exactly how the prop valve works inside

Taking stuff apart is fun. Many times I've destroyed stuff just to figure out what is inside of it. And usually along the way learn how to take it apart the next time without destroying it

In your case no destruction, which is good, and even better, learned a lot. It is that learning part that I can't seem to stay away from.

just like me, i like to know how things work, some people say "if it's not broke don't fix it" well you have to know how it works wile it still working so you can fix it when it brakes, right?
