Hissing

Ok so ive been posting as problems come up and questions arise. This thread is regarding my brakes. Whenever im driving and need to brake my brakes my car makes a hissing noise. The noise increases as i apply pressure to the brake pedal. I have to floor the brake pedal to come to a complete stop and remain at one. My dad told me it could be the brake booster or something along those lines to where the air pressure is being sent back. Idk what the problem could be. Any suggestions/info? Thanks for reading.

Re: Hissing

Sounds like a bad booster to me. I would first check the vacuum hose from the intake to the booster to make sure it isn't leaking. Then check the check valve and grommet to make sure there are no leaks there either. And you could have a friend apply the brakes while parked while you are underhood to pinpoint the noise/vacuum leak.

Its the booster. I checked the vacuum hose. Its where the brake pedal lever goes into the booster that's bad.

Re: Hissing

I'm pretty sure all the boosters on our cars are the same so it should be pretty easy to source one locally from a junk yard. I have an extra but the shipping cost might kill it. Depends on where you are located.
