Re: rear brake not working

If there drums they may not be adjusted right. How high are you revving the engine? The stock pv on these cars doesn't give much braking to the rear. Easy solution to that is an adjustable pv. I had to do this on mine since I went from drums to discs, the difference was night and day(but my rears are actually a little too high right now, locked them up almost hitting a deer).

Re: rear brake not working

I think you have drum rear brakes? If so, raise the car, secure with a jack. There is an oval slot on the back where a adjuster tool can be inserted. This tool will trun the star wheel at the bottom of the drum brake. Another method is to remove the drum and adjust the star wheel by hand....you can tell if you're too far because you won't be able to get the drum off. One other method that works well IF the brake is in good condition, is to simply apply the brake when backing up. Most drum brakes are designed to do this from the factory - that's why they'll stay adjusted until the get corrosion/debris on them.
