Confused on rear disc brake swap?????

So I bought a WS6 rear from an 88or89 trans am and want to put it in my 88 camaro. I have been told that it is a direct bolt in but I would have to change the combo valve? why is this? its still a 3 channel line set up like the stock rear.

Check the 10-bolt sticky for the info you require (the braking systems between the 9- and 10-bolt are identical).

Not REQUIRED. Some say they noticed a difference in not swapping it, some didn't. I didn't years ago.

I say put it in first, then decide if you want to swap the valve or not.

There's no single combination valve that fits all applications (if there were, no discussion would be required); instead there's a combination valve for each of the three braking applications: disc/drum, disc/standard disc, and disc/1LE--each increasing in rear bias. Different part numbers for each valve and so on. Best bet for best braking performance is the correct valve for your application. Or an adjustable.
