braided line help

I have a 92 z28 and swapped to a 9 bolt with the delco marine calipers. Which braided line kit do I need. I would assume that all 82-92 non 1le fronts are the same. I would also assume I need the pre 89 rears. Is this correct? I also notice that all the stock 92 rears have the 5 braided line set but the 84-88 sets don't include the 5th life e in the middle. Did the pre 89s not come with the 5th line? If they didn't what should I do since I assume my rear is out an 88 iroc and I am using the 5th line since its stock on my 92z?

Re: braided line help

There are at least 4 sets; 82-83 were SAE, 84-up are metric. Then, 88-down with the crap cast-iron Saginaw brakes got one set, and 89-up with the good PBRs got a different one. Drum rears 84-92 would all have used the same one.

Since your car is downgraded to the 88-back crappy ones, you need the 84-88 set for disc brakes. You are correct, that system didn't use a rubber line on one side; the metal line hooked directly up to the (supposedly) sliding caliper. I hope somebody got REAL early retirement, like at age 22 or so, on a defined-contribution plan, for that one.

Re: braided line help

So no need to take the 5th hose off and run the steel line directly in?

The OE 88- system has four soft lines and one hard line (driver's side). The 89+ system has five soft lines.
