Rear Brake upgrade options
I am having Strange build me a S60 rear end and they are asking me what backing plates to put on it. I have heard allot of people go with the 93-97 rear disk.
Is this still a good way to go??

My $.02 says go with the 1998-2001 (or 2002?) LS1 rear disk brakes. The backing plate still bolts to the 10 bolt housing, and the hydraulic caliper is separate from the cable parking brake.

FYI: I am doing the LS1 rear brake upgrade now on my 87. I got everything less rotors and pads off EBay. Searched here for rotor and pad recommendations... Bought those new from RockAuto and Porterfield, respectively. Purchased new hoses/banjo bolts/washers (optional, but recommended) and cables (should be bolt on) from FlyNBye.

Re: Rear Brake upgrade options
There is a problem with the LS1 rear brakes to be aware of: won't fit most 15" wheels, even if you grind down the fins on the calipers. The 4th gen crowd has been battling this problem since the LS1 came out, so be aware. Supposedly not as big as a problem with the LT1 brakes.
