Servicing rear disc brakes
Hi guys,
I'm replacing the 2:77 rear in my '87 T/A with a 3:27 rear from a '88 GTA. I'll be replacing the brake pads also...my question is...does the piston go strait back into the caliper or do I have to turn the piston as it goes back in?...I've never done rear brake pads before...did a search on this topic with no help...Thanks!

The caliper pushes back in, the only screw out rear calipers I have ever experienced were on German cars.

Re: Servicing rear disc brakes
The piston in that system does both.
Using the parking brake adjusts those by unscrewing the 2 parts of the piston, which if you don't screw it back together, the new pads probably won't fit. There's a "special" tool for this, not sure how practical it is to do it without it.
Then, the entire piston just presses back into the caliper body.
Make sure you use the parking brake EVERY TIME you park the car, and maybe twice on Sundays just for good measure, to keep em adjusted up as the pads wear.
