Combination Valve Problem
I just fixed a leaky brake line on my 1989 Firebird, but now the brakes cannot be bled because it appears that the proportioning valve isn't allowing brake fluid to go to the rear brakes. I have drum brakes and haven't done any conversions in the rear. I think that the problem is that it still believes that a leak is present, so its cutting off all pressure/fluid to the rear. Do I need to purchase a new valve (if so, does anyone know where I could purchase one?) if not, does anyone know a potential fix? I can't wait to get my first car on the road!

Re: Combination Valve Problem
Are you sure its the valve? A more common problem is the rubber flex lines rotting internally and blocking off fluid. Replace the line from the body to the axle and see if it helps. Very unlikely the valve itself is the proble.

Re: Combination Valve Problem
Before i fixed the line, pressing the brakes would still allow brake fluid to leak slightly. fluid would even leak when the brakes weren't pressed. I'll check out my flex line though. Thanks!
