Re: 91 camaro front brakes

Did you clamp down on, bend into place, the locking tabs on the outer pad? IIRC, the inner pad uses a spring like retaining clip, is it in place?

Also, be sure to bed the pads.

RBob.

Re: 91 camaro front brakes

its the outer pad causing all the trouble.do you clamp the two tabs on the outer pad so it fits tight on the caliper . the passenger side is fine no noise or rattling at all/

FWIW...

Pad Clinching - See attached.

In all the years of doing GM disc brakes (at least far back as 1968), I've never bothered to do this until I decided to read the 1987 Camaro FSM in 1989.

Re: 91 camaro front brakes

You can do the channellock plier deal, but's usually not easy. You can remove the pad and tap the tabs and then reinstall the pad. Or you can have someone hold the brakes while you pry up on the pad and tap on the tabs with a hammer. different way to do the same thing. Be sure the inner pad has an anti rattle clip and that it is tight in the piston. Replace the o-rings in the caliper and lube with silicon based lube and clean or replace the sliders that the bolts go through. Also clean and lube the caliper stops, the part of the spindle that hold the caliper.
