90 GTA Baer Brakes Upgrade
Looking at a baer brake upgrade on jegs was wondering if anyone has used them and what do they think about them? Looking to upgrade the brakes on my 90 GTA wanting more stopping power as stock brakes aren't cutting it.

Re: 90 GTA Baer Brakes Upgrade
They make a good product. I looked into them and wilwood. Also looked at big brake upgrade and kore 3. In the end I went w kore 3 w wilwood calipers. I think you need to think about what you want wheel size and then think what rotor will fit. Also what you're looking for in general. The ones in your link will obviously be much better than stock but they're only 11 inch rotors I think. You likely
can fit 12 inchs rotor under most 16 inch wheels (double check that). Stock rotors are 10.5 inches. I have 17 inch wheels and 13 inch up front and 12 inch in the rear. There are so many options is a little tough to wrap your head around. Both kore3 and big brake upgrade make brackets to mount to your spindles and use a variety of stock rotors and calipers from other cars. What you picked out is cool and likely a good product. There are options out there that may work a little better and be in the same price range. The guys from BBU are on here all the time. Them and Tobin from kore3 are really helpful and helping make good decisions and setting up a complete kit. Their knowledge about what fittings/lines you need as well at prop valves and master cylinder compatibility I found really helpful. Either way your car will stop so much better!

Re: 90 GTA Baer Brakes Upgrade
I do plan on upgrading to 17inch GTA Mesh wheels from my stock 16's. Plan on building the motor and really wanting to autocross the car around so trying to get something good for daily driving and some racing aswell. I've thought about the ls1 brakes but not sure how there braking power is. I've been searching the internet for a month now and trying to get something going here so i can get the car stopping good before i pull the motor and everything else. I'll check out the kore3 brake system. Also i've noticed guys swapping over to 4th gen brake boosters and master cyclinders are they worth the upgrade or is better to run an after market mc?

Re: 90 GTA Baer Brakes Upgrade
I've had a Baer front kit on my GTA for over twenty years. Never had any issues with them, and they work great. Might be better/cheaper options now, but they make a solid product.

I to have had the older 2 piston pbr caliper "upgrade" for 25yrs on my 89 formula350. 13" rotors frt rear, upgraded to the 2 piece rotors about 20 yrs ago. Probably going to upgrade the front calipers to 6 piston and 14" rotor soon.

Re: 90 GTA Baer Brakes Upgrade
I see both 11 and 12 inch rotors are in the description. If it's a 12 inch rotor and 4 pot calipers you should be good. The kit looks complete and to be a responsible price.

Re: 90 GTA Baer Brakes Upgrade
i may need to email them to clarify which size rotor comes in the kit. And ya the price seems really good compared to what I've been seeing around. I my just buy that kit and get the ball rolling. Should i be upgrade my booster or master slave cylinder to 4th gen stuff? Or keep the 3rd gen booster and get a baer master?

Re: 90 GTA Baer Brakes Upgrade
I have have a 3rd gen master and a wilwood adjustable prop valve. It works well w my wilwood 6 piston front and 4 piston rears. I'm sure some other guys w Baer setups will have recommendations. I bet this setup will work well with with your current master cyl and prop valve but let the guys who have something similar speak more to that.

Any of you guys run the 3rd gen brake booster or do you swap it out with a 4th gen booster? Mine is on it's way out and need to swap it out aswell.

Re: 90 GTA Baer Brakes Upgrade
I'm running the stock booster. I think the master cylinder and booster have to match. So both third gen or both fourth gen. I'm not sure about that though. I'm really happy w my disc mc/wilwood prop valve/3rd gen booster setup. It works well the my setup and stops insanely well.

https://www.hawksmotorsports.com/82-...-rotors-hawks/ Or do you guys think this would be a better kit sense it comes in either 12 or 13?

Re: 90 GTA Baer Brakes Upgrade
I'm sure Baer makes brackets and you can source 12 inch rotors. You should contact them before you buy it. I'd also do it once and if you want 12 inch get it all now. Are you sure it's only 11 inch? It says both in the add/description.
