I have both the early and the late design e brake handles to choose from. I'm trying to figure out what the benefit would be to changing to the late design in my 87. Is it simply the self adjustment potential? Or is there something I'm missing?

I've never seen an early design work well. Like, even in the mid 90s they didn't work well or for long. Even w new components at best they work poorly. I'd strongly recommend the later setup, even more than that a modern design w a brake in hat style disk. I think that's how 4th gen's are.

I have a 4th Gen diff in the 92, with the parking brake style you described. I have the cables set with the late model handle, but I'm getting ready to transfer the diff to the 87 im building and wanted thoughts on transferring the brake handle as well. Appreciate the insight, sounds like I'm moving that as well.
