Best advice look at the southern states Craigslist/ebay/facebook/classifieds here and fly down and drive one home. You can find them with almost 0 rust but worn paint for that price around here.

There are a bunch in the FB Marketplace and CL. But honestly, for $1500 you're basically getting a cobbled up car which may or may not run.
