There was no purple haze Z28 Z03 that color was only offered on the RS

Hi, Purple Haze was a mid-year introduction on the Z28. Then again you may be right, RS Z03 option only???

Initially the Z03 Heritage package was only available as a white car with red stripes; black car with red stripes; or red car with black stripes. However, mid-year additional color combinations were introduced: Polo green car with gold stripes (this combination also got gold badges and gold accent wheels); and purple haze car with silver stripes. There were 8,197 made.

 

You could have a purple haze Z28 just not Z03.

The 2 additional color combinations were RS Z03 package only.

Sure wish GM kept production numbers for the Z03 car's by color and Z28 or RS along with the engine.

I too wish they kept records by options a little better...as i also wish they made the purple with silver and green with gold color combos on the Z28s.

 

I have seen the color combination before. In fact there is one on autotrader. com right now, but it has already been sold. I have also seen a couple in camaro history books. They may not be common, but they were made.

Well without trying to fight and just so I am not looking for a unicorn here, we are both talking about a purple 92 z28 with silver heritage stripes. On the RPO codes it is also listed as Z03? Now the one on autotrader and camaro shows have all these things. So are you saying you are right and the other cars are forgeries?

 

The Purple Haze Z28 on AutoTrader has the Stripes and 25th badge but the front grille is Black and not painted body color which is part of the Heritage Edition option. In other words the grille behind the fog lights should be painted purple. But, like Stevo said GM did not produce Purple Haze Z28's with the Z03 option. With that being said, I'm sure a few special order Purple Haze Z28's could have been produced, who knows? I'd be very surprised if the AutoTrader car has the Z03 code. Good luck!

 

Spoke to the owner a little while ago and he said RPO Z03 was on the SPI Label and the original Purple Haze paint was still on the car. Not sure what to make of it except it sure sounds like a legit Z03 Z28. Car was also sold 2 weeks ago. Later

 

Page 129 of the Camaro White book indicates purple haze was a Heritage package color for Z28's. All PH cars received silver stripes! All 92 cars were Aniversary cars...just not Heritage!
