Do YOU own my red 1992 Camaro RS 5.0L (VIN: 1G1FP23E7NL109319)???
Do YOU own my red 1992 Camaro RS 5.0L (VIN: 1G1FP23E7NL109319)???
I am looking to find the red 1992 Camaro RS L03 5.0L V8 I owned in high school and college and had to sell to pay for my mother's heart surgery in 1996. Per Texas DMV, I know the car was last registered in Ector County, Texas in 2004, but that's where the trail has gone cold, so far. I still live in Texas, but not anywhere remotely close to the Permian Basin.
It's certainly a long shot, but if you could help a guy locate and potentially reunite with his long lost friend, please let me know. It should make for an incredible story!
The VIN on the car is: 1G1FP23E7NL109319. It is/was red with black cloth interior and the car had several distinguishing characteristics that I would be able to identify in a heartbeat if they are still intact, red/body-matching valve covers, a Lola chassis nameplate on the rear valance, among others. It is a solid roof car with the red trim 16" wheels. 20+ year old photos are attached...
Anyone in the Midland or Odessa Texas area who might know ANYthing would be a huge help. Thanks in advance!!

Have you ran a carfax to see its history of what state it may be titled in.

That's next. Debating between Autocheck and Carfax. Carfax says there are only 8 records for the vehicle whereas Autocheck has 17. By comparison, a 1993 I own has 30 records and a 2002 has 28 on Carfax. Something tells me the car is out of commission or used as a racer or something to not have many records on a 22 year old vehicle, but who knows? It may just be sitting in someone's collection, though I couldn't imagine why...

I had a credit left on carfax after buying a 06 trailblazer and decided to run the vin on my 91 z28 I recently purchased. It had 16 records, some were for service and emission testing.
I hope you have good luck with your search

Unless it's completely trashed/totaled/burned and assuming I can get my hands on it, it will undergo full restoration and be placed in my collection, regardless of condition.

Good attitude to have, I know how it is to be attached to vehicles and over look the flaws.

Obviously I'd prefer to have as much of it as possible, but even if the only thing I could recover was the body, I'd be thrilled.

If you go too ebay and make a ad in the motors section and imput the vin it will give you the autocheck for free and to post its free then you just go bsck and cancel the ad when done. I've done it a few times. Found out my old charger went to Kuwait.

I've already run an autocheck on it and was quite pleased with the results, but that is an awesome tip to have for future reference, thanks!!

How cool it would be if you found it. I would like to find my 91 RS as well. Best of luck to you. You sold it for a noble reason. You deserve it back in my opinion.

Thanks Mike, I agree. I have a very promising lead right now and am awaiting VIN verification on it. I'm hopeful, but not counting my chickens yet.

Hopefully when you find it the owner will sell it to you and not try to gouge you knowing that you have a sentimental attachment to it.
