RCA Cable Routing

I have a 91 rs with two 800 watt 10's in the back and my RCA cable is going bad. I plan to pick one up within a few days. What is the best was to route it with as little work as possible! Thanx!

best involves going down the driver side and using a coat hanger to string it up to the back if you dont feel like removing all the panels along the way.

I wouldn't run the RCA's down the drivers side if that is where all your power wires are. The best bet would be pull everything and run them down the center. That way, they are totally isolated from any noise interference caused by power wires.

You can run them next to power wires just fine. Thats an old wives tale....

Think about it, where do you ground all of your equipment? Your chassis. What completes the circuit so that current will flow, your chassis. Your chassis puts off just as much of a magnetic and electric field as your power wires (actually more, since everything goes through it, not just power for amp, etc). SO it doesn't matter where you place your wires, because anywhere you place them they will be getting interference from the chassis.

To eliminate any noise (if you have any, because induced noise is pretty rare), you set your gains correctly and use unshielded twisted pair wire (UTP, wire such as CAT5 cable, or Monster's XLN-PRO cables).

Most the noise people get are from incorrectly adjusted gains.

no no, best bet is to run (in a camaro) the rcas down the driver side and the power from the passenger side. how is noise from improper gain settings? i agree that you need to get some good rca's, but dont bother spending more than $40 a set for them unless you plan on doing some heavy competing. gains need to be set correctly to the voltage of the deck, nothing to do with noise.
