No AM?

Today I started running the wires for my amp and only plugged the 2 RCA wires into the back of my head unit. Turned on the radio and things seem ok until I go to AM. I got no AM? Anyone ever hear of this?

It worked before, only thing I changed was plugging the RCA wires into the unit. I don't even have the amp hooked up yet. This happened in my other car before too!!!

I need the AM for weather and sports!

AM gets its signal from a ground path. The barbed outside part of the ant connector should be a closed loop to ground all the way through to the ant base.
