OK, here's my thought...
I want to upgrade all the stereo equipment in my recently acquired 92 Firebird. I'm thinking since I'm taking the Monsoon system out of my 2001 Z28 anyway, it'd be cool to put that in the Firebird.

Here's what I've gathered so far...
  • The speakers are different sizes... but I can make plastic adapter plates to make them fit.
  • 6 speakers in the Z28, 4 in the Firebird... I'll just use 4 speakers, or create 2 new locations in the Firebird.
  • 1.5 Din CD head unit from the Z28 will fit in the dash of the Firebird.

I'd assume that the wiring for the Monsoon amp & speakers would be just like any other amp & speaker install, so that's not bad.
What I don't know is if the radio harness in my 92 Firebird would hook up to the head unit from my 2001 Z28 or if I would need an adapter, or have to custom wire it somehow.

Anybody know? or have any thoughts, opinions, ideas, or suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Shouldnt be to hard at all. You will probably need to take the wiring harness of the z28, but you will have to do that anyway when you upgrade the Zs head unit. When you buy a harness for your aftermarket deck in your z28 it will give you a color code. Use that to wire it up. as for the extra speakers, you could probly door mount them easily enough. Let us know how it goes.
