polyfill experience

I wanted to see if this is a similar experience to what some of you have went through. I have a pair of Orion XTR 12's in a box with 1.6 sealed per side. I did the normal 1 pound per cubic foot of polyfill and it felt and looked like way too much. Stuffed the box full (did 20 oz per side). Did I add too much? My bass seemed to loose a very slight amount of volume but might sound a little smoother. Is that somewhat similar to what you guys have noticed?

i read somewhere that you get to a point in box size that it doesnt help any more. Anyone confirm this?

My box fits flush with the back section and is pretty big and i didnt add any polyfill but i did when it was a small box behind my pickup.

I think I might start pulling out little bits at a time and see if I reach a point where it seems to want to be. I doubt my ear can pick up much of a change though. Probably pull it all out. Seems like too much from just looking at it. The speaker looks like it has no space now.

usually it is one pound per cubic foot. although i believe that if the box is built the proper size you don't need any polyfill at all. I could be wrong though.

I'm no audio tech but if it sounds better with out it I would do the same. Just rip it out and take it back to the store.
