well im goin to be different here and well since its my first real system. i have 2 jensen mofset (or whatever it called) amps. a 400 watt 4 channel and a 200 watt 2 channel amp. i mean so far so good with the qaulity and clarity. ive heard the sonys and they suck and then yet the will die on u fast. but im happy with my set up i have right now. when i go for a real allout custom system ill probably go with the rockferd (spellin) fosgate amps.

but the only ones ive seen like 400watts and higher ive only seen 2 channel amps and a 200 watt is only 2 channel. do they make a 4 channel amp or no? becuz when i was at best buy they had the amps on display and they were only 2 channels

well i had an USAmps one time. it was a nice little amp. it was also a cheater....12.5w x2@4 ohms, 300w x 1@2ohms. what i didnt like was that it was one of the earlier models which had the power wires and speaker wires soldered to the board. seeing i got it way down the line, those leads were getting really short. had an awesome sony mobile es amp, got stolen. now really dig the ample audio amp i have. need to get another one for my comps up front. great amps, low price, and the whole non-mainstream brand (i'm a sucker for that kinda stuff, although i have nothing against mainstream brands.). its fun to be different

i had that usamp lol...i liked em, rated at like 25 watts and threw out 500 at one ohm. i liked the old lanzar 50c's and 100c's, ...optidrive. memphis is pretty decent. i dunno about my favorite amp though. depends on the application honestly, ...comps or enjoying pleasure.

JL audio and Alpine are the only amps I've ever cared for, I'm sure there are a few other good ones, but I haven't seen them.

sony amps.......garbage!

kenwood amps....ok, but way overated powerwise.

HELLO did anyone mention DEI? Or what about Crossfire? These are two of the baddest amps I ever dealt with.

i was just about to ask if ayone has heard of Crossfire. i just ordered one a few days ago...700 w. i have it going to 2 12" Polk Audio DX series subs. i don't know much about car audio systems yet but im sure 700 watts going to 2 12's is enough for me. they are supposedly rated at continuous power

actual wattage is a key issue, there is a guy onlie who build true 3 watt home stero tube amps that cracked his foundation.

he makes 3 and 5 watters now.

hehe...didnt even bother to look at the post replies but I'd say my Orion HCCA 2100. rated at 1400x1 at 1ohm and 12.5v. That's seriously underrated tho and pushes over 2000w easily. :hail:

Is it interfire or crossfire that actually melts your speaker terminals?

You are a smart man.

Personally, I prefer soundstream and PPI. Of course Soundstream got bought out, so no more of that. I guess PPI will have to do.

Any of the Memphis amps. First couple of amps I ever had were Jensen and Power Acoustik. Both of those went down quick Now I pay the price for the good stuff.

I am definitely a fan of my 700 watt Bazooka. I'm driving two 12" Bazooka subs w/ it and it's got a lot of kick, even though I'm getting signal through a high level to low level converter Although when I get it out of my Reatta and into my T/A I will definitely be running straight low levels from the head unit to the amp. (The reatta has a touch screen radio, and I didn't wanna be messing around with that, so I just used the high to low level converter and hooked it up to the back speakers, so I've got door speakers and 2 subs I think it sounds quite good, all things considered)

A thread brought back to life I see. But I'll add my vote.

For me it's a toss up of Alpine, MMATS and Kicker. Old school PPI and Soundstream were great too. Out of all of them, I have yet to own MMATS, but I have heard a set up. It was *** like. lol :hail:

Alpine V12 MRV-F300 from 1995. Used to run chan 1&2 stereo at 2 ohms and chan 3&4 bridged at 1.5 ohms and never had a prob. Still using the amp today, altho for different purposes. IMHO it looks better then almost any of the current amps being made.

Hey don't forget the Sherwoods! LOL I had a 40 and an 80 that we beat to death. We hooked something like 8 -10 speakers to the 80 to see what it would do. It never blew. It shut off a few times and when we finally removed it, it had started to burn the carpet!

I will secong the RF Power 1000, it is a beast and it rocks.

I have used a ton of different amps over the years. My Firebird still has two Rockford Fosgate Punch 150 HD's in it that I bought in the very late 80's early 90's. One has been factory rebuilt since then, but they still work perfect.

I have a 600 DEI and it works pretty well.

For mids and highs, I miss my old a/d/s power plates. Those were great amps.

Alright.I just got off the phone with my Earthquake rep and one of their engineers a little earlier. The new Earthquake D3 is rated 3000 wrms @ 2ohms. They have one in the lab playing at .5 ohms all day long with no problem. Then the engineer told me that they have a couple vehicles using the D3 pushing around 6500-7000 watts RMS at 1/4 ohm! I've been impressed with my D2 playing at 1 ohm all day with no problems. This new D3 is bad@$$.
