Help box troubles

alright i just installed 2 mtx 12"s through a 250 watt amp i didnt fit a box just cut out the shape of the "hole" and mounted them there i left the ends open (2.5") on each side the hole is basically acting as a box will closing off the ends give me better sound so it will be totally enclosed email me with any advice should i box in the entire underside of the subs? completely enclosing subs in an airtight box will sound better than leaving them free-air -- which is what i interpret that you have right now.
