Infinity Refrence Subs... Help Me Folks!

Hey guys,

I am considering purchasing infinity refrence subs from crutchfield. They are 99 dollars a piece or 149.99 for 2 12" 50-300 watt RMS infinity refrence subs. Is this a good price? I want to get the two-fer deal. What kind of sub should I use to power them if I am looking for a quality amp that isnt a wallet burner?

thanks,

TOM

yea, thats a pretty good deal -- thezeb.com has them on sale for $70 a piece, but for the extra 10 you get crutchfields customer service, warranty, etc.. as for an amp, check out jbl's BP600.1 -- it will put about 300-350 watts into each sub, which would be perfect for those drivers, its class D so its efficient and doesnt put much drain on your electrical system, and it can be had for only $195 from ikesound.com. you wont find equal power for cheaper anywhere else

here is the system i want to build...

Deck: Pioneer Primier DEH-740MP $235.00 IKEsound
front speakers: Infinity 462.5i Plate 4X6 $85.00 IKEsound
rear speakers: Infinity Kappa 3 way 6X9 135.00 IKEsound
subs: infinity refrence 12" 50-300 watt RMS: $150/both Crutchfield
AMP: JBL 600 watt mono amp $195 IKEsound

will this produce a good system? Will people "hear me comming?" are infinity kappa subs much better than refrence? or do refrence subs do the trick?

THANKS,

TOM

ALSO, what about wiring and installation?

sounds like it would be a pretty nice upper-mid level system. people should definitely hear you coming.. a friend of mine has 2 references getting 150w a piece, and i can hear him from about 2 blocks away. the one thing you might want to consider is a 4-channel to power your speakers, otherwise the bass will probably be a little unproportional for wiring, you'd need about 25 feet of 4 gauge power wire for the amp, a few feet of 12 gauge speaker wire for the subs and maybe 50 feet of 18 gauge speaker wire from the deck to the speakers. you should be able to handle the installation yourself, as its pretty much just running wires. also, you're gonna need a box for the subs of course--you can make one pretty cheaply (30 bucks and a few hours) or buy one for around $100. good luck

yea references are pretty nice, kappas are better tho.. and perfects are better than that.. get the best thing that you can afford, they all sound good tho.. as for another amp, alpine makes great sq amps, or you could stick with jbl all the way around.. they're pretty cheap

do I get a wiring kit or just buy individual wiring? Do I need to get a lightning cap? Cant I just have my deck power the other speakers, or could they use another amp?

THANKS,

TOM
