need a cap?

need a cap?

I was wondering if i would need a cap for my system. I have one sony amp 760 watts, and 2 alpine Type R 12". I heard the it is better on the battery so was just wondering.

before you spend money on a cap, upgrade the wiring under your hood. ground to battery, battery to alt, and even battery to engine. change it to 4ga or larger. will solve most dimming problems. caps are often a waste of money.....

A cap can't hurt, but it's not going to solve any real problems. All it does is just store power from the battery. If you really want to make a big impact, get a better alternator.

The cap does make a difference it makes the music sound more clear and it hits harder. plus it puts less stress on the battery and alternator.

sorry, but a cap will not make music sound clearer or bass hit harder. the only thing it does is at most stop an amp from getting too little power when it needs a lot of it (ex. quick, loud bass hit). however, if you fix your electrical system (under the hood), the chances of your amp not getting enough power are much, much lower. i'm running around 800-1000 watts (no class d), 4ga wiring under the hood, and i have no lights dimming.

and yes, a better alternator is the best solution for a high-output system.
