need help with system

i have 2 12" polk DX, bridged 700 watt Crossfire amp, Pioneer 4x6s, Kenwood 6x9s, and a Panasonic 601u (50Wx4ch) head unit. my problem is i have way too much bass (even on the lowest level)and not enough mids and highs. is there an easy and inexpensive way to fix this? i just want to know what some of ya'll have done on this board. i always hear about the bass setup but i know i can't be the only one with this problem.

First thing to try is to turn down the outpot level on your amp. My rovkford had has a dial I can adjust to make the bass softer or harder. By turning down the bass you should hear your jihjs better.

Do you have your 6x9s hooked up to an amp. I recently installed an amp to my 6x9s and have seen agreat impovement in midbass and highs. I used a profile clarus 400 which i got for under $100.00 new. It puts out 100x2 rms at 4 ohms.

are your 6x9's 2-way, I have infinity kappa 3-ways with crossovers on each, I get nice bass and highs with those.

How are the infinity kappa 3-ways? I have Soundstream Tarantula 2 ways and they sound great, but may be thinking about switching to kappa 3-ways when i have my subs installed.

the kappas sounded great in the store, but When I put them in the car, i had to remove the foam patting behind the speaker to make them fit. And now when the bass hits, the air pressure is sent throught the inner chaber of the 2 peices of sheet metal, My door jam vent have a large amount of air moved through them . Doesnt sound so great, But I'm getting the speaker baffles from crutchfirld to solve this problem.

The problem is that the head unit, no matter ho many watts it says it has, truely only has about 17 watts per channel max (from what I've measured) with the norm being closer to 9-12 watts per channel from advertised 50-75 watts per channel! Get an amp on those front speakers!!! The 700 watts going to the sub is just overkill without a front amp. You can turn down the sub amp gain in the meantime until you get the front ones hooked up to something worth while.
