My brother's car was like that, the previous owner cut off the factory wiring harness for the stereo. After having to go through it once, some dumbass broke into his car and cut off the head unit's harness that was connected directly to the factory wires. Probably the easiest thing, it there is no harness there at all (it's just loose wires) would be to go to a junkyard and cut off the radio harness. Then all you'd have to do is matchup the colors, and then get an aftermarket adapter that connects to your head unit's harness.

i had to do this in my 87 camaro. there is an easy way to do it. if ya got a multimeter that will work, or a curcuit tester will work too. to find your power wires, first connect your curcuit tester or multimeter to a ground and with the key in the "OFF" position start testing wires once your curcuit tester lights up that is your constant on wire or the one thats straight from the battery, so tape it off and mark it. to find the accesory wire, turn the key the the "ON" position and just test wire and tape it off and mark it. for the speakers its differant i just got my stereo hooked up and started touching wires till i found the right speaker, i hope this helps some.
