Just bought an Eclipse 10" Titanium... Box size?

I was curious about what box size to use.

According to http://eclipse-car.freeyellow.com/Cat_Sub.htm suggested box sizes are:

Competition 0.65 Sealed
Boomy 1.0 Sealed
Nat-Bass 1.50 Sealed
ExtBass 2.0 Sealed

This make and sense to anyone? What is a 'Competition' box? It is small because of competition requirements on size?

I listen to techno, rock, symphonic, rap, etc. I listen to a broad range of music, so I would hate to get the wrong box.

Anyone know which box would be right for me? I would hate to lose the long bassy notes I love in rap and techno, but I don't want normal bass notes to sound bad in exchange.

Any suggestions? Anyone else running one of these woofers?

first off, excellent choice in sub. you're probably gonna want to go between .65 and 1.0 sicne your choice of music... .65 is for punch bass where you can feel the impact. Boomy is drawn out bass and you the sub will probably be able to go a little deeper. I'd say if you were confused than just go inbetween the 2 and i'm sure you'll be happy. Just make sure you amp the sub to it's specs and you'll be happy with it. These subs are impressive.

Thanks for the reply!

It's just a single 10". From what I see, each coil is 3.1 ohms.

I plan on runnining a Kicker 1200.1 (in parrellel). The amp is 1200 into 1 ohm, and 600 into 2, so i figure that should power right into the 1.52 ohm load good.

What's the deal with polyfill? I heard it sort of simulates a larger box. Is it just crap? Or could I go with a smaller box, and use poly fill to 'resize' it a bit larger if needed?

i would say between .75 and 1.0 for your application. that should satisfy your musical preferences.

they polyfill is supposed to help simulate a larger box, maybe if you don't have enough space for the size box you want a need a little more airspace it help to simulate that effect. some people always use it, some never use it, and some use it only in certain situations. its up to you. try and experiment a little to find out what suits your tastes. good luck
