Need some Port advice

My subs require a port 3" X 13.25". I dont really like the 13.25" idea. Im trying to keep the subs low in the well. Can I use a wider or smaller diameter to augment the length? Basically can I re-adjust the port size and maintain the same tunning?

Thanks

You can decrease the size to 2.5" and go to ~9" long, or go 2" and make it ~5.5" long.

Keep in mind those are round about figures that I got using the program from www.linearteam.org

Don't rely on them because I don't know the specs for your sub. That was based on my sub.

The program is called WinISD beta. It works rather well for being free.

Keep in mind, the smaller in diameter you make the port, the more you increase what they call "Vent mach". It's how much you're going to be able to hear the air rushing in and out of the port. It can cause a "whistle" sound that get's rather annoying.

Download that program, enter all the required info about your sub(s) and it should help.

Tough call man. If you go down to a 2" port, it's going to produce massive port noise.

Don't forget that your port doesn't have to be straight. It can bend inside the box.

You can also use a rectangular port, which is pretty easy to build into the box.

What the hell subs are you using though? That port size seems awful big. You must be tuning that port to a very low frequency.

Thanks for your input guys. Ill try that program. Anyway Im usig Rockford Fosgate RFP 3410 subs. There a four Ohm 10". The box with that port size is tuned to 35Hz.

Just to confirm, will bending the port have any negative effects? Also does the bend have to be in a cetain length down the tube? And am I limeted to the degrees of bend allowed?

Thanks
