rear speakers for iroc convertible 1989

rear speakers for iroc convertible 1989

does anyone know the size and the best replacement speaker for the rear speakers on a convertible iroc before i remove them and size them thanks jsel

The stock speakers are 6-1/2" dia. I tried to replace them with 6-1/2" Infinty's but they were too deep. There isn't much room back there. I looking for any good ideas also.

Why not make a new set of plates similar to the old speaker covers out of flat fiberglass, bolt them in and if you have to use speaker mounting rings to gain depth, let the rear of the speaker go through the panel....

The stock speakers were actually 5 1/2" but 6 1/2" can be easily made to fit in there.

I got 6x9's to fit, but they were low profiles and they didn't like being there. There is a cross member right behind that area that prevents deeps speakers from fitting too well. However, you can do what I am doing and extend the sail panels an additional 1/2 inch with some fiberglass, and boom you get more speaker room. Who honestly sticks people in their back seat anyway? And if you do they're cramped as it is, what's 1/2 an inch more when there is good music to be had
