Subs in rag top!!
Hey all I am thinking of taking my MTX 12's out of my RS Coupe and using them in my rag top IROC that I use the XM radio in. What kind of sound will I get from them. I know they will not hit as hard as they do in the coupe but will it sound good? I already have a amp on my components in the kIcks and rear.
Thanks

no subs in mine, but i'm sure you can expect more rattles. my top rattles every time i go over a bump, so i can't imagine having a system in it that would make that noise all the time.

Thats true mine does too. I was thinking it would hide the squeeks!
I have a good set of kicks and speakers in the rear but its all screeching highs.

May hide the squeeks on the inside, but you'll have HELLA squeeks on the out. You're right, the subs won't hit as hard as they do in your Coupe, but either way it'll sound alot better. Good luck man.

actually that trunk area would make a nice port if you tuned the box correctly and used the right subs. the box would be fairly easy to do( just using the manu's specs). selecting the subs that would work best in this environment could be a trial & error kinda thing. i wouldn't try to use more than two subs though in that tight compartment . as for the rattles & squeaks, it is a conversion GM that was built in the 1980's to early 90's(not exactly one of the higher points of GM's existance)
i have 2 tens in my 89 vert and they sound great. and believe it or not they hit just about as hard in the vert as they did in my 87 lt. and just incase anyone is wondering if a box from a coupe will fit in a vert i got mine in and it takes up every in of space between the bottom of the well to the top of the hump for the gas tank. i'll take pics later
