is my headunit defective?

i just got a kenwood MP522 cd/mp3 headunit from ikesound.com today, and i think its defective or something is wrong with it. it wont read my store bought cds, their not dirty because one i opened and took out of the case today, brand new, and it wouldnt read it. it does read my burnt cdr's though, no problem. i inserted an MP3 disc, and it reads the tracks, and plays a little of them, then it starts skipping, and sometimes just stops, and looking at the play time, its not progressing. its acting like the cd is dirty, but once again, i burnt it like 10 minutes before putting it in, and there wasnt a scratch or smudge on the back at all.

do i need to burn them at a slower rate or something? that can be one thing, but why wouldnt it be able to read regular cds? anyone have this kind of problem with a receiver before?

thanks for any help

When you get it back take it to a stereo shop they can test it and tell if it defective but it sounds like it is to me.
