i have a pair of rockford fosgate subs. they dont work anymore and i dont no why. no signs of it blown on the subs. i have not tested the voice coils yet. any ideas on how they could be fixed or wuts wrong with them or how i can test them

 

Do they just do nothing or...?

 

they do absolutely nothing but take up space. they dont even make a crackin sound wen i plug them in

 

Not trying to be a smarta$$,but did you check your amp??? Maybe you blew a fuse. Try another speaker , doesn't matter what kind , just to see if theres any output to the speakers.

 

yah hes right be pos. that your getting sound to them,,,try hooking another speaker up there,,,,,funny both would just stop working at the same time. If it is getting sound then carry on below

most busted subs i came aross had a loose conection behind the conectors on the back of the sub or where the wires penitrate into the cone itself...beacause of overexteding the pulses puts stress on the wires.......ive actually cut the dustcaps out very very carfully with a scarp thin utility knife and used a sodering iron to reconect the thin thin wire thats in there if it was loose there or id just soder around the back of the connectors.

Dont go takeing the dust caps off if your not positive its the problem. I used clear silicon to glue the cap back on. Just test the sub hook it up and figit with the wires in the rear of the sub at the back of the conectors,,,and it will sometimes come back on then go off...then you know you can just solder it.

But if the subs have been used for alot then it could just be wore out in the voice coil and the wire way insde the unit could be wore right thru from thuping and friction inside the pole.
