Hey all!

I have a TransAm with the "Performance Sound system". Well I have already removed and installed a new head unit, and put some subs in the back with the speakers and all that junk..

NOW!! I want to tackle my highs. I am thinking of doing this. The Performance sound system gave me a 4X6 POS Speaker and a 4" Sub in each sail panel. The Sub was in a ported box in the sail panel. My plan is to pull that box, make it a bit bigger and park a 6.5" coaxial speaker in there. Not only that but I was thinking of using a crossover to run a tweeter per side to the upper rear plastic thingy (don't know the term...must wing it!) right before the rear hatch and fiberglass some pods for them there. This should therotically give me better sound out of my rears then the stock paper 4X6 speakers.

Do you think that this setup would work? Would you tackle this another way instead of the path that I am choosing?

Do a search... the factory sub boxes leave very few options as far as aftermarket subs... there's no way you'll get bigger speakers in them. If anything, pull the system completely out of the car and sell it on ebay, its worth a small fortune intact. Then just get some 6x9 adapters from another car and go from there.
