Dyno-mat.....

hey if you surround the speakers completely with dyno-mat or another sound deadening material, will it help make plastic and other peices in the car stop shaking and rattling?????

I really don't know, but I see a ton of people viewed and didn't say anything so I'll leave something.

It will help with sheet metal flexing, but as for plastic trim shaking I kinda doubt it. You might try looking around http://dynamat.com/ They have installations on about every product on various parts of the car (floor, doors, hood, trunk, carputer, etc) . Maybe you can find something out there.

the whole point of (overpriced) dynamat and similar materials is to stop stuff from vibrating, which is what causes your rattles. you can also put thin strips of foam between panels to stop them from rubbing against each other or use undercoating in places you cant reach with the sheets.

oh, and skip on the dynamat brand. go to home depot/lowes and pick up peel and seel from the roofing/skylighting sections. its the same product at a tiny fraction of the price.

Peel & Seal isn't the same stuff. The difference is that dynamat and the other similar products from other brands are rated for around 250* farenheit. P&S is rated for around 150. A lot of people have had problems with P&S falling off in the heat. This is obviously going to make a serious mess if you do your roof or doors with it, but if you're doing the floor, it's a great way to save some money.

I used it on the outer door skins of my girlfriend's camry, and so far it's been working very well... but we also haven't had any heat this summer.

Overall, I'd say it's great for floors and even vertical applications if it's in a location where separating won't cause big problems. For upside down locations, and hot vertical locations, I'd probably say it's worth getting raped for the expensive stuff.

You guys might check out ikesound.com they carry dynamat products: bulk packs of orginal is 95 bucks and xtreme $115 for bulk. Shoot that price to thezeb.com or similair place and have them price match it they should knock a few more bucks off the total.

i havent had any problems yet with the stuff i put down. i only covered the back half of the car, so i dont have any large vertical areas like the doors. the car has gotten quite hot inside this summer and everything is still staying put. however, i'll deal with the possibility of a mess for a much smaller price.

Try the v3 it is a liquid that rolls on thin and doesn't stink like asphalt plus it also has rust inhibitors.

installed the brown bread yesterday. easy to work with i wore mechanics gloves and cut it with a utility knife. was easier to cut the foil side and gave a better cut too. stuff had almost no smell sticks well. it seems to quiet the panels of the car good i have the doors left to do once i adjust my windows.

Peel 'N Seal is available at most roofing/building material supply stores, every town has them. It takes about 120 sq. ft. to do a t-top car like mine. To help with adhesion use a paint-prep product like Total Prep, it seems to help quite a bit. I live in Florida and did have a piece come off of the firewall ledge this summer. To use it on your doors drill smalll holes every 4-6" across the top of the door edge and use the plastic push-in buttons to secure it.

One of my buddies had a r1cer civic hatchback that would rattle really bad when he turned his 15" L7 to the max, he went to walmart and bought one of those pads you lay on in the swimming pool (2 inch thick foam) and cut it up in small pieces and put it around his weather stripping and cocked it in. Didn't rattle nearly as bad!

Yes you should! I just returned from Atlanta and after a 800 mile road trip I must say... WOW! The car is so quiet now it's like a different car! No more road noise, sqeaks, the doors don't rattle, the stereo sounds 50% louder, the interior stays cooler... I cannot believe how much of a difference this stuff made... And I used the Peel 'N Seal, not the Dynamat!!

Well just my .02, I have done the entire passenger side of my car in the peel n seal early this spring. The car is going through a lot of changes and hasn't been driven and sitting in the GA heat all summer long none of it has loosened one bit. I covered all the floors, door panels and the sail panels and what little bit of roof I have.

Definitely cost effective!
