I am looking into picking up a JL Audio 12w3v2's for my daily driver, I just dont know which one to get. I think im only going to run one sub for now. They have three different kinds of 12w3: 12w3v2d2, 12w3v2d4, and 12w3v2d6. What do the D numbers on the end mean and what should I get. I think it has something to do with the ohms but I dont know for sure. I am planning on pushing the sub with a Rockford Fosgate Punch 5002 amp if that helps. i believe its D ual voice coil and 2,4 or 6 ohms.

use the dual 4ohms speakers and wire each one in parallel( to get 2ohms per sub) and then run each sub to one channel. thatll be 2ohms x 2 channels at 250RMS

 

I have the W3v2D6. The VCs and subs are wired in parrel so I get a 1.5ohm load on the amp. I have a JL 500/1 amp to power them. By the way don't buy from acaraudio. They are cheap but the customer service sucks. I bought my subs and amp from there and the shipping took 2 weeks and then they forgot to ship the amp. I called them and told them and they were asses about it. I got the amp a week later.

 

if you are getting one sub, get dual 2 ohm voice coils, wire it to 4 ohms, that would be a good setup with your amp.

 

If you have not bought the sub yet, then wait about 2 weeks.
the JL Audio W1 series will be in the stores by then.

the W1v2 series will surprise you with the sound quality and the volume from such a low wattage woofer. and the space requirements are less then that of the W3v2.

 

Dont waste your money on the JL you might as well get a MTX 9500 or 8500 or a Brahma

 

there is a price difference tho
