newb w/ a small problem

I bought the car and the guy i bought it off of said he didn't do nething w/ the speakers or stereo system except put in a new cd player. You can tell there aren't stock speakers b/c the 2 back speaker covers wont screw in cause the speakers are to big The problem is that everything plays fine, except the back speakers don't fully kick in till a couple min. after i've started listening to something. It's hard to explain, like the base is really bad in the beginning but then it gets better and sounds like it should. It doesn't slowly get better, it just kicks in after a while. Any help or suggestions would be great.

Thanks for your time,
Brady

if the speakers are all running off the headunit... then I'd say its bad... either get another unit, or add an amplifier, or both!

Could also be a short that a bump in the road causes to unshort or something like that.

What brand is the head unit? Also, pull the back speakers out and check to see if the wires are proplerly soldered on or with connectors. Something tells me the wire is just wrapped around the terminals...

I agree with aaron7. Thats what I think it is. Check both the speakers and the head unit wires to see if they are connected real tight like they are supposed to be. When you hit a bump or maybe just the movement of the car causes the wires to touch then untouch and thats why it comes in sometimes and sometimes it doesnt. Even check the tow wires on the back of the speakers that go to the cone and see if they are loose or what. Sometimes they break or loosen up specially if someone isnt careful when installing or if the speakers was in an abusive relationship with its owner. Some people never care about their stuff or others.
