eclipse

anyone able to give a viable opinion on eclipse headunits and as a company?

i'm trying to decide wether to go with eclipse, kenwood or pioneer for they all have new double din dvd/navigation 30gig keg units in one and they are all the same price. i can't physically try each one out though so i'm trying to find info on the one company i've never used.

I've always been partial to the Pioneer HU's cuz they make great ones with many functions. However, after hearing my brothers truck which contains eclipse everthing except HU (which is pioneer) I can say that eclipse makes some great products as well. Which head unit are you referring to by the way?

Eclipse head units are more of a no frills quality setup. While Pioneer's often have more features in the same price range the eclipse units are often of a higher sound quality.

I have an Eclipse headunit and I love it. Feature packed as far as EQ and levels, two sets of RCA inputs, sub pre out. Very nice for the money I paid.

either the avx 2454 or 2495. which ever is their top of the line, i can't follow their website very well as it doesn't match their dealer brochures.

one of these two more then likely though with th 6.5 touch double din.

http://www.eclipse-web.com/

there is suppose to be a new avx 25 something model but i can't find it on the internet. that's the one i'm looking for though with the recordable hardrive and navigation.

I prefer Esclipse out of the 3, but honestly man, go see the units in person. There has to be a sounds shop around you somewhere that has demo units setup. Even if you dont really plan to buy from them, just pretend you are.

i hope not, i was able to find one at a retailer near by. well last years model which is similar anyhow and it was outstanding. i don't really care for the navigation so that is useless to me but i like the idea of the recordable harddrive. i wonder if it can be moded to hold a larger one??

hmm..

Yup, Eclipse rocks. I was able to get a mad deal on my friends older model flip out LCD Eclipse deck (7001) w/ the seperate Digital Processing CPU, got everything for $200. It dosnt look as pimp as the newer stuff, and nowhere near as many features, but the sound quality is crazy good. I bet the one you got will sound crazy good too.

That thing retails at like 1800...what do you do for a living man?..i'd kill for one of those units...newho..eclipse rocks..all ive ever owned, ..one unit skipped on me one time..while driving through what i'd consider a crater..not a pothole...had my one unit for 7 yrs, in and out of 2 vehicles..i swear by their product..2 amps, 1 pair of 6x9's, 4 subs, 2 hu's, ..bastards wont sponsor me, but im sure i didnt go about it right either...really good product and usually good service.price is hefty, but quality is really only matched by xtant's amp line i found ... you shouldnt be disappointed.

I used to have their model 55040 which was supposed to be their top of the line competition unit with 8 volt preamp output. A very nice piece but I went back to Alpine in the long run. I just like the sound from an Alpine better. Saw your car in GMHTP,very nice. Is the air ride sysem you have now available from ART?
