how to....
im writing an essay for school about how to install an amplifer and subwoofers. the audience would be for someone who already had an aftermarket cd player installed in there car and wants to save the money and install the amp and subs themselves. if anyone has any suggestions about what i should put in it. please feel free to either post reply or email me at:

I'd go into detail about what gauge wire to use, what size fuse to use because that is something a lot of people don't know. Also, I'd talk about the proper place to run your power wires and rcas. Proper grounding techniques.
Also, maybe go into details about what would happen if you did something improperly/took a shortcut... like, ground-loops, etc.

yeah. im supposed to go into detail about everything. all the what if scenarios. its called a process analysis paper. or in other words how to. haha. decriptive and very instructional is my way that im writing it. im gonna go ahread and suggest 4awg wire being ran in my paper because thats what i use and that way it shouldnt have to be replaced or re-done.

Depends how many amps your running and how powerful they are though...
I mean, you're running a couple say 1000/1 JL amps and saying 1 500/2, they're you're gonna want some 2 or 0 gauge wire.
Oh, and something else... might wanna talk about a "Big 3", upgrading your alternator and battery

im going to keep it basic. im just saying install 4awg power, and ground. run all wires through inside of car. im not going into the power instability that may because depending on quality of products. im goin with a single amp and a single sub hook up in this paper. its a generalization of how to do it. so if someone should read it they should pretty much know what to do.

Grounds, grounds, grounds, then may be a little bit on grounds. I would mention that a bad ground could not only cause noise problems, but also damage the HU or the amp. Of you’re going to do one amp and a sub, (bridging the amp) mention that each channel will ‘see’ effectively half the load. So a 4 ohm sub bridged would present the same load as two, 2 ohm subs, one on each channel. So the amp would need to be 2 ohm stable (most are). If you need to take up some space a good long explanation of how skin affect doesn’t come into play with DC could take up some space. Make it clear and explain some ways that playing with wires can start a fire. Go detail on fusing, right size an near the battery...

make sure you mention at the beginning... as part of the introduction, how crappy the installers are at most shops/stores... or that they could care less about damaging your car, or doing the job right.... and that they will try and cover up any damage they cause, or deny liability in every situation. Then lead into, HEY you can avoid all this by doing it yourself, and save a lot of money in the process...! yay!
and instead of just 'suggesting' 4AWG wire... how about you do some research and find out ABOUT how much amperage can flow through certain guage wires... that chart is easy to find on google, and its also pretty common knowledge... that way you can suggest a proper guage wire, instead of just "something you use."
