No Lights

No Lights

If I haden't seen this I would call my interior and tail lights went out after I instaled my cd player....no big deal.....check fuse.....blown....replace....blows....hummmmm....head home and pull cd player.....check wires for original sterio lights.....crimped and tapped up good........find one that isn't....tape it up reinstall cd player and fuse.....turn lights on the f'ing thing blows.......put jumper wire in place of fuse pull cd player......turn lights on good.....plug in cd player all is good........now the twist......plug in ant. and my lights dim jumper wire gets hot.......unplug ant. new fuse all is good.....glad I have an azz load of cd's......no ant.= no reception.......what went wrong????.......

Check your ground. You should be grounding to a black wire in the harness, not the brown wire. The brown wire in the harness measures as a ground, but when you turn your lights on, there's 12 volts present. I made the same mistake when I did my first install way back, and blew a couple fuses and a half dozen headlight relays before I figured it out. I never had antenna problems though.

What Jim85iroc said, use the ground in the harness. The dark brown wire will have current when the lights are on. I did the same thing with my first GTA. Went through a hand full of fuses myself.

Thanks guys.....I'm 100% sure that is what I did.....the p.o. had a crimp conection on that wire with one end open......it looked black tested as a ground.......I know what to look out for next time......thanks,Mike

yep........i cut the brown wire away from my ground and spliced my ground into another ground for the interior lights and everything is working perfect now.....I think the reson the ant. was causing all the problems is because it grounded the radio when it was pluged in causing the power from the brown wire to flow in via the ground wire for the cd player.......thanks once again for your help guys.Mike
