Can a set of two 4 ohm, dual voice coil subwoofers be installed to achieve a 2 ohm load?

I know a set of two 2 ohm dual voice coil subwoofers can be hooked up to acheive a 2 ohm load, but I'm not sure about the dual 4 ohm subs.

 

u can achieve a 2ohm load with one dual 4ohm sub.

so if u had two subs and two amps, each amp would receive a 2ohm load.

But if you're trying to wire them to one amp then i dont believe you will be able to get a 2ohm load.

No. U could do 1ohm or 4ohm... there's other ohm loads u could make too, but none that would work well in the car audio world.

There used to be a coupling device made by Stinger that could present the amp w/ a constant ohm load so u could hook up whatever speakers u wanted, but it was basically a way for competitors to get more power out of their amps w/o moving up to the next power class. Even if it was still available, it'd probably be cheaper to buy new subs that are a better match for the amp.
