faulty power antenna?

I've searched a little and haven't found much in the way of my problem. I might have just missed it though. :P

Have any of you ever had a situation where your antenna goes up about...maybe a foot...then adjusts up and down a few times before going down?

When it does this (which is 90% of the time...10% of the time it just goes up that one foot and the stereo sounds wondreful) I get a thumping sound from my rear speakers...really odd. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening and how to fix it?

Thanks

EDIT: my guess is that it's the antenna since ifI disconnect the remote wire (that hooks to the power antenna)...things are fine, just reception is crappy since the antenna never goes up :P

this unique to me? :P

EDIT: I think I'll just count it as a feature...strangely it seems to keep darn close to the beat of the music...wiiiiierd (passengers think it's cool though *shrugs*)

Solved just so people know...apparently it fixed itself when I installed a new amp and speakers. Sounds like something in the speaker output was 'causing it to continually "Search" until it gave up. :P

connecting stock power antenna to aftermarket radio

Hi, i see that you tried to help this guy out with the power antenna. Im having a small problem, that maybe you can help me with. I installed my sound system and everything works great. I even get some what of decent reception, but the power antenna doesnt go up or down and it may not be a big deal but i would really like it to work. The reason why it doesnt work is cause the stock connector is not pluged in but cant be cause i have the aftermarket head unit. I need to cut the wires and rig them to the aftermarket head unit. There are 3 wires green, white, and grey. Now abviously one is power, one is ground, and one is for the up and down for the motor or actually should be for the relay to tell the motor that the radio is on to go up and when radio is shut off to go down. Your help will be most appreciated. Here is a pic i provided for you to show you what im talking about. Im most positive you can still use the stock power antenna and i know that the acc wire and remote control wire play some type of part in this to connect to the stock power antenna wireing harness.

The only wire you need to hook up to your antenna to make it go up and down is the wire in the head unit harness. That connector gets plugged into the car's wiring. You shouldn’t have to do any splicing, etc to get it to work. Just wire up the head’s harness the correct way and plug that plug back into the stock location and it should work.
