Fiberglass Sub Box Q
hey guys
planning to build a sub box.... going to put it in the rear hatch area well...
i have two 8" Kicker Comp Vr
I am not doing the bottum well.... the last drop where it has two sides for the wheel wells.. im making the bottum of the box level with those wells.
Well i am going tomorrow to put my supports in to the bottum well and prepping my build with cardboard, plastic, and aluminum foil.
my question....
how thick should I go around it? and the lid?

Must have missed your original post. Sorry about that.
Thickness is subjective to personal preference, your design, and what subs/power you're going to be using.
The weakest part of a fiberglass box is a long flat wall. These are the most prone to flex. The more curves the better. I plan on building some ribs into by box with either MDF strips or dowels to strengthen the box. The only side I'm going to do is on is the side closest to the hump.

I've got some progress to report on the events leading up to my box. I've got 3 yards of fleece (way overkill for the top but this way I have extra for future projects) and 120 pounds of assorted mat/cloth. I still need my 5 gallons of uscomposits.com resin, brushes, foil, tape, etc.
Still too cold to really do much so I'm buying random things when I find them at a good price. It probably won't be another two or three months until I start my box
I'm guessing the toggle will be for a neon or something along those lines
