Stop the rattling

Stop the rattling

I got a set of pioneer 4x6s up front of my maro and the driver side seems to rattle when i turn on the bass or turn it up. what could be causing this and how do i stop it .

Check and see if the grill that is over the speaker is actually attached... I dynamatted my whole dash pad to get the rattling to stop up front.

Pull the dashpad out and check to see if there are any loose screws/fasteners or even a loose wire somewhere rattleing on a peice of steel.

If you can't track it down any other way, pull the dash pad and try pressing down on the mounting ears while the rattling occurs to see if you can make it stop. That will at least help ID a way to fix it.

Indeed! If it's a rattle, then it's just something loose. If it's a buzz, then you NEED to filter the bass out of those speakers.

Pull the dash apart (pad off) with the stereo on and touch things with your hand until the rattle stops. Once you've located the rattle then go about fixing it by tightening it down/applying some kind of deadner.
