I just mounted two amps in my split rear seats and I need to gorund the amps. Problem is, I dont want long ground wires. Can I just drill a hole into the metal brackets in the seats and use that as a grounding point. That metal bracket is connected to the hinge area which is bolted to the frame. Does anyone see a problem with doing this? If that dont work then how about putting a ring terminal on the wire and using the stud on the hinge for ground? if that dont work then I will have to run the wires inside the the 6x9 opening and ground them inside there somewhere to the frame. the only downside is that its a long run for the wires

Unbolt your lap belts, slip the ring over the bolt, and bolt them back on. No extra holes and the best possible ground. Just be sure to strip the paint, etc around the hole so you get a nice contact patch.Originally Posted by BOTTLEDZr28

My wires are 4 and 8 gauge.

You can do one of two things: buy bigger rings or drill out the center holes some. The rings I got had a lot a ~1/4" hole but the rings themselves were pretty large (probably about 3/4"). I just walked over to the drill press and rammed the hole bigger. I forget what size the bolt was.Originally Posted by BOTTLEDZr28

My V6 Camaro had an amp mounted in the seats, I really wanna do that again to my IROC, but its got the split back seat which I dont really like all that much, but I just put a ground on the Back of the Seat Mount after strippin paint off
my car has the split rear seats and I put 1 amp in each seat. it looks perfect. I will get pics asap. Im just hope the amps dont overheat. Im running 2 Kicker ZXseries amps. it they overheat, I may have to raise them up a bit to get some sort of air under them and maybe cut out some nice detailed holes in the end covers on them.

I didnt really have any overheating problems, other than ones I had while it was sittin up on the gas tank hump. That amp overheated if i blasted it too hard lol.

I'd be interested in doin a dual amp setup but Not Sure, that or my friends always complained about the back of the seat being uncomfy, well if one side is still fine they can shut up haha
