88-89 sterio differences
88-89 sterio differences
I have a 88 gta that Im wanting to replace the stereo, with a modern cd player. The problem is I have steering wheele controls that I want to work. Is there a difference between 88 and 89 stereo's and hookups. I need to know because the remote for the wireless adaptor only lists 89 no 88. Ordering adaptor threw PAC-audio.com

The PAC adapter works with ANY steering wheel control, if I remember correctly..
the way steering wheel radio controls work, is by pulsing a signal... like an old telephone... you program each button-push to a button on your IR remote... honestly not the best way... they make direct-wire versions that plug STRAIGHT into the modern cd deck
your choice though, because with the IR version, you can wire ANY button on the steering wheel to ANY function on the remote... it's the only 'plus' if you ask me... (guess it's a BIG plus though... hrm)
